
Leave the noise of modern life behind for an evening of prayer! Build your relationship with Jesus Christ through song, Scripture, silence and contemplation! This is an ecumenical and interdenominational form of prayer. Taizé is a spirituality that is easy to experience and hard to describe. Invite your friends and family to join in. Taizé is served by staff, volunteers, and members of the Norbertine Community of Santa Maria de la Vid Abbey. You can join the livestream if you are not able to attend in person.

Our May film in this series is Defending Your Life, a 1991 film starring Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks. The Abbey will provide snacks and you can BYOB as we start the conversation at 6:30 p.m. The event moves to Our Lady of Guadalupe Commons this month. The Norbertine Library cordially invites you to a fiction reading and open discussion with award-winning author and emeritus professor Kate Horsley, as she traces the intersecting affective themes of women’s self-discovery, empowerment, sociocultural conflict and spiritual journeying in her published works. Light refreshments to follow.
Kate Horsley was born in Richmond, Virginia. She got an MA in International and Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University and then moved to Albuquerque where she got a PhD. in American Studies from the University of New Mexico. She taught for over 30 years at UNM and CNM. She’s published nine books, winning four prizes, including the Western States Book Award for Fiction.

In Our Lady of Guadalupe Commons we will have posole and biscochitos and join together in songs that tell the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and honor her. We will close the evening with a reflection, praying the Our Father and singing three Hail Marys. Leading up to the Fiesta we will do a virtual chaplet for four days in honor of the four apparitions December 8th – December 11th.
Join the Norbertine Community in a night of Las Posadas. We will gather in the church, sing the Las Posadas song, read from scripture, pray an Our Father, Three Hail Mary’s & close with a reflection on the season of advent and the tradition of Las Posadas. All will be invited to the Our Lady of Guadalupe commons to share in posole and biscochitos and sing more songs of the season.
