On November 13, 1893, Fr. Bernard H. Pennings and two other Norbertines arrived in Hoboken, New Jersey to establish what would become St. Norbert Abbey, the first permanent foundation of the Norbertines in the United States of America and the mother abbey of Santa Maria de la Vid. On this date in 1963, Daylesford Priory achieved independent status as a Norbertine Community. Today is also the birthday in 354 of St. Augustine, whose Rule the order follows.
